Kids manicure and pedicure prices in Gatineau

Our services for children 10 and under generally follow the same steps as an adult manicure or pedicure, adapted for smaller hands and feet: nail trimming and shaping, cuticle care, then regular polish or Shellac. Prices are in Canadian dollars; they can change and are confirmed when you book.

Regular polish or Shellac for a child?

For a first visit, regular polish is usually the easiest choice: it comes off at home with ordinary remover, and changing colours is simple. It's also the most affordable option, with the kids manicure at $15.

Shellac lasts longer and keeps its shine, which is handy before a party, a trip or school picture day. However, it doesn't come off with ordinary remover. It needs to be removed properly rather than picked or peeled, which damages the nail. If your child tends to fiddle with their nails, regular polish may be easier to manage.

For feet, the kids pedicure takes care of the toenails and skin, then finishes with the colour of their choice. The kids mani & pedi package ($45, or $60 with Shellac) covers everything in one visit.

Keeping nails looking good at home

A few simple habits help the result last longer, especially for kids who are busy with school and sports. They're also a good chance to learn how to look after their own nails:

• Avoid biting nails or peeling off polish; peeling weakens the nail.
• Wear gloves for dishes, crafts and playing in the snow.
• Apply a little hand cream at bedtime, especially in winter when skin gets dry.
• Keep toenails cut straight across and not too short, with shoes that fit well.
• With regular polish, a fresh layer of top coat after a few days helps keep the shine.

A mother-daughter outing or a special occasion

Many parents turn an appointment into a little outing together: a manicure for you and a kids manicure for your child, side by side. It's a nice way to mark the end of the school year, a birthday, a dance recital or just a quiet Saturday.

For a birthday or an outing with friends, no party package is listed on our menu, but you can book several kids services at the same time. A few tips to keep things running smoothly:

• Call to check how many clients can be served at once at your preferred time; the team has four technicians.
• Let the kids pick their colours ahead of time. It speeds things up and is part of the fun.
• Allow a few minutes of drying time before heading out if you choose regular polish.

The little extras: nail cuts, paraffin and foot massage

You don't need a full treatment every time. These services can be added to another appointment or booked on their own when you simply want clean, well-trimmed nails:

Eyebrow tinting colours the brow hairs for a more defined look, especially if your brows are fair, sparse or lighter than your hair. It's often added after an eyebrow wax for a clean, coloured result in the same visit. With a tint, you can skip the brow pencil in the morning, and the effect fades gradually over the following weeks.

If you have sensitive skin, have reacted to a dye before (hair or brows), or use facial skin products such as retinoids, mention it to your technician before she starts.
