Nail art prices in Gatineau
At Ongles Spa J&K, nail art comes as add-ons to a base service: a Shellac manicure ($40), Gel Polish ($30), or a Bio Gel, Solar or dip powder set. Your total is the base service plus the add-ons you choose.
“From” prices vary with the number of nails decorated and the complexity of the design. They can change and are confirmed when you book. Example: a Shellac manicure ($40) with a chrome finish (from $10) starts at $50.
| Add-on | In short | Price |
|---|---|---|
| French | White or coloured tips, classic or fine line | from $10 |
| Chrome | Metallic or pearly mirror effect | from $10 |
| Cat Eye | Magnetic gel with a moving band of light | $10 |
| Design | Motifs, from one accent nail to all ten | from $5 |
| Airbrush | Sprayed gradients and ombré | from $10 |
| Nail repair | Broken or split nail, fixed | from $7 |
What to expect at a nail art appointment
Nail art goes on a fresh base, once your colour or set is done. To keep things running smoothly, mention your add-on when you book: a detailed design on ten nails takes longer than simple French tips.
- Consultation: show us your idea (a photo helps a lot) and we'll go over colours, how many nails to decorate and the price.
- Base service: Shellac manicure, Gel Polish or a nail set, including nail prep.
- Nail art: French, chrome, cat eye, airbrush or hand-done motifs, layer by layer.
- Sealing: a top coat protects the design and gives it its shine.
- Tips to keep your nails looking great until your next visit.
French tips, chrome, cat eye or a design: how to choose
Every finish has its own personality. Here are a few pointers to find yours.
French tips: timeless and versatile
Classic white French tips go with everything, from the office to a wedding. On short nails, a very fine line (micro French) stays elegant; coloured or V-shaped French gives the look a modern twist. Love French tips but not the upkeep? A Solar (pink & white) set builds the French right into the enhancement.
Chrome nails: the mirror effect
A fine powder is buffed onto the gel to create a metallic or pearly sheen. Chrome is striking on almond nails in a single shade, but it also pairs well with French tips (chrome tips) or a single accent nail.
Cat eye nails: depth that moves
Cat eye polish contains magnetic particles. A magnet gathers them into a band of light that looks like a cat's eye and shifts as you move your hand. At $10, it's one of the easiest add-ons for an eye-catching look.
Designs and airbrush: show your style
A design can be a small motif on one accent nail (an affordable option, from $5) or a full creation. Airbrush produces very soft gradients, ideal for ombré. Not sure? Start with one or two accent nails: it's a great way to try a trend.
Trends and inspiration: see our work
Our gallery shows nails done right here at the salon. You'll find styles our clients come back to again and again, to copy as is or adapt to your colours:
- 3D flowers: raised petals for a romantic look, perfect for spring and weddings.
- Marble: delicate veining, from classic white to deeper tones.
- Ombré: a soft fade from one colour to another, often done with airbrush.
- Stars and zebra prints: graphic and playful, on one nail or all of them.
- Autumn leaves: warm shades, just right when the Outaouais trees start to turn.
- Phoenix and detailed designs: more elaborate creations for nails that get noticed.
Bring your idea

Making your nail art last
A design sealed under a top coat generally lasts as long as the base service it's done on. Raised elements need a little extra care.
- Avoid picking at or pulling on 3D elements.
- Wear gloves for dishes and household cleaners.
- Moisturize your cuticles daily: neat cuticles make any design look better.
- A broken or damaged nail? A repair (from $7) often saves redoing everything.
- When it's time to remove everything, have it done at the salon rather than peeling it off.

Frequently asked questions
How much does nail art cost at J&K?
Add-ons start at $5 for a design and $10 for French tips, chrome, cat eye and airbrush. They're added to the price of a base service, such as a $40 Shellac manicure. Your price is confirmed when you book.
Can you do nail art on natural nails?
Yes. Nail art can go on a Shellac manicure or Gel Polish, with no extensions. For more length or stronger nails, it can also be done on a Bio Gel, Solar or dip powder set.
What are cat eye nails?
Cat eye is a magnetic gel polish: a magnet gathers the particles into a band of light that shifts with the angle, like a cat's eye. The cat eye add-on is $10.
Do chrome nails last as long as regular colour?
Chrome is sealed under a top coat, so it generally lasts as long as the base service. As with any set, wearing gloves for chores helps keep it intact.
How much time should I plan for nail art?
It depends on the design: French tips or cat eye add little time, while a detailed motif on every nail takes longer. Mention the add-on when you book so we can plan enough time.
